Bottega Veneta: Men – Deconstructing masculinity

Jul, 2020 | Fashion, News

This season, digital experiences have taken over physical fashion shows and more brands are pushing the boundaries exploring innovative ways to display their new collections.

Bottega Veneta is the latest brand to present a fashion film with the launch of Bottega Veneta: Men, a collaboration between Daniel Lee, Creative Director of Bottega Veneta, and photographer and filmmaker Tyrone Lebon. The film will premiere July 24 on the curated streaming service MUBI, where it will be available to watch until August 6, and on bottegaveneta.com

Exploring identity, masculinity, and our relationship with clothing, it features a collective of multidisciplinary artists caught in the act of dressing and undressing, which is at the same time intimate and performative.

What is the current meaning of masculinity?

Featured directors, musicians, actors, and artists including Barry Keoghan, Dick Jewell, George Rouy, Michael Clark, Neneh Cherry, Obongjayar, Octavian, Roberto Bolle, Roman and Tricky try to answer this question while reflecting in their own selves.

The style is incredibly powerful, and themes like these have never felt so important. The ensemble -different in age, context, and creative disciplines- share their vision on how clothing helps shape your personal identities.

With this short film, Daniel Lee opens a new space for reflection and celebration of uniqueness and individuality.
