Over time we have learned that in order to really know a city, you need to walk it and that is the case of Amsterdam, so when we had to select a hotel to stay in one of the most emblematic cities in Europe, we looked for an option found in a quiet area but close to the places that we were interested to know.

The Bilderberg Hotel Jan Luyken is a small boutique hotel housed within a typical Dutch mansion in the museum district of Amsterdam and a street away from boutiques such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Prada and all major fashion brands. It is one of the best options for those who are addicted to shopping or simply to let free the window shopper we all carry inside.

What we like the most about staying in boutique hotels is that the service is almost like being at home and the Jan Luyken does not disappoints as the staff made us feel welcome at all times from the time we checked in until we had to bid farewell to our room overlooking the beautiful Jan Luijkenstraat.

The Bilderberg Hotel Jan Luyken design is modern and minimalist; the spaces, although small, feel cozy and the bar of the hotel became one of our favorite places in the city as it served as a refuge to rest after having spent the day touring the nearby museums or walking through the neighboring Vondelpark, the largest park of the city which is only a few streets away.

In the morning, the famous Bilderberg Breakfast is served, which consists of an exquisite selection of artisan breads, organic products, natural juices, cheeses, meats and the traditional Dutch peanut butter.

An excellent choice are the packages offered by the Bilderberg chain; there is a package that includes lodging, breakfast and a visit to the nearby Rijksmuseum or National Museum of Amsterdam, which has an impressive collection of works by Dutch artists, the star without a doubt are the Rembrandt paintings.

Because the Bilderberg Jan Luyken is a boutique hotel, we recommend planning your visit a few weeks in advance because they have few rooms and in high seasons they are usually sold out.
