A cliché: Spring has Sprung
The Spring-Summer 2022 campaigns you should know (and love).
Winter is basically gone. Spring is officially arriving in seven days and we couldn’t be any more excited. And besides blooming flowers, the season also brings new campaigns for our eyes to appreciate. From the perfection of Prada, to the now iconic Aimé Leon Dore, each campaign is a reflection, somehow, of what a man looks (or should look) like today.
So, cheers to spring and the beautiful and very expensive things it always brings!
CASABLANCA
Founded by French-Moroccan designer, Charaf Tajer, the Paris-based brand has become one of the most popular names in the industry in the past 2 years. For Spring-Summer 2022, Tajer worked with photographer Axel Jozeph creating images that are an “ode to friendship and an homage to Japan during its technological peak Masao San, exploring the shared ambition and emotional design language of the Memphis Milano movement in the 80’s.”
DIESEL
Glenn Martens became Creative Director of Diesel last year. Since then, it feels lke the brand is finally back – celebrating the power, beauty and history of denim like no one else. This time, Martens introduces “Diesel Library,” the brand’s made-to-stay responsible denim line. The campaign features a diverse cast of well-established and rising talents including Toni Braxton, Ella Snyder, Aaron Piper and more. Creative team behind the campaign involved Photographer Frank Lebon, Stylist Ursina Gysi and Art Director Chris Simmonds.
PRADA
Whatever Miuccia says and makes, we’ll always love. Mrs. Prada and Belgian icon Raf Simons who’ve been working together since 2020, chose the new Spider Man aka Tom Holland as the face of their most recent SS2 Men’s campaign. The final result? A beautiful series of portraits taken by David Sims. PS- Zendaya, can we get a piece of that?
LUDOVIC DE SAINT SERNIN
Paris is burning and we’re okay with that. Shot by Willy Vanderperre, LDSS’s new campaign is everything we’d expect from him. Intense, beautiful, innocent but erotic. Is there anythimg more interesting than a naked man?Well, duh, of course. But if the man is Spanish model Fernando Lindez, well, then don’t stop looking.
BALENCIAGA
We love you, JB! We really do. Long gone are the days when he was the most hated yet most wanted teenager in the world. Shot by American art photographer Katy Grannan, Bieber looks like Netflix & Chill throughout the images – and don’t we all aim for that?
JIL SANDER
OK – so, if the word chic wore clothes, they’d definitely be Jil Sander. The German house, which is now directed by power couple Luke and Lucie Meier is simply perfection. Its latest campaign was documented by Chris Rhodes and was launched back in October of 2021. The Meiers chose a mix of natural and and urban spaces around Paris captured by Rhodes wrapped in a feeling of improvisation and anticipation.
LOUIS VUITTON
Captured by British fashion photographer Tim Walker, the campaign explores the symbolic values of rave culture and martial arts through visuals full of energy, color and power. The SS2 collection is metaphorically informed by the Amen Break, a little-known 1969 drum solo that became a founding factor in hip-hop and jungle music and has been sampled thousands of times since.
AIMÉ LEON DORE
Three words and my heart is yours. I LOVE YOU? Of course not. Aimé Leon Dore! Founded in Queens, New York, back in 2014, it seems like the whole internet is talking about this now American power-house led by Teddy Santis. Photographed by Jackie Kursel, the SS22 campaign, which was launched under the name of “The World’s Borough,” features a fantastic cast of Teddy’s closest friends and collaborators.
RAF SIMONS
Ok – So, Raf Simons is on this list twice and that’s fine because he is Raf Simons. Shot by his long-time collaborator, Willy Vanderperre, the campaign needs no explanation. Raf continues to save the world. So, thank you.
JACQUEMUS
Dessert for last? Yes, and we like it goooooooooood. Who knew Puerto Rico and Paris would look so good together? Into bad bunnies? Well, let us introduce you to the baddest bunny in town. Oh, and he’s into fashion.
