When thinking of a hotel in Los Angeles, our mind travels directly to places like Downtown L.A with its towering buildings or perhaps legendary hotels like the Beverly Hilton where every year Hollywood celebrities gather for the Golden Globes or even any of the ultra-luxurious hotels flanking Rodeo Drive. Few people think of hotels near the beach and much less in an area like Venice Beach, so getting to know the Hotel Erwin is a great find and one of those little gems that are worth visiting.
Located a few meters away from the beach and with a retro mod look, this place is not the common hotel you would find in a coastal destination. It rather takes us back to a London hotel in the sixties with urban touches and clean lines. The color combination helps create the cool and jovial atmosphere since entering the lobby, which is decorated with surfboards, very ad-hoc to one of the iconic activities done at Venice Beach.
The more than 100 rooms offer stunning views of both the Venice Beach Boardwalk and the beach, and most of them have a nice balcony where you can peacefully enjoy the unique sunsets of the California coast.
Our #DapperPick is the bar on the hotel’s rooftop, appropriately named High, where you can enjoy the best view of the whole area. From the comfortable sofas you can see Catalina Island, the Santa Monica Pier, Malibu the Getty museum and even the Hollywood Hills while sipping cocktails like the mezcal based Playa Picante or the Catalina Islander, made with pisco, lemon and guava.
Definitely visiting the Hotel Erwin is an experience that any visitor or local should live at least once, because in addition of being run by a very friendly and attentive staff, it is a place that soon will become a must in the city. Trust us, soon you will begin to see the Hotel Erwin in endless lists of the best hotels in California and across the United States.
